Social Network- The much talked about film of the year!
Social Network is an interesting movie and soo fitting to today's youth and generation. We are a Google graduate - everything can be learned by the click of a mouse and a search on the google page. This movie stems from the idea that - every invention needs a motivation- the inventor of facebook was upset with his girlfriend for breaking up with him- that he ended up creating a site to ridicule women- and went one step further to create a 25 billion dollar company! A must watch. The story is woven between the past and the present . It is a heavy movie though- and you need to follow each line- so if you are looking for a laugh or romance- its not there but whats there is the making of a real entrepreneur. Inspirational story of a university student and another Bill Gates!

hmmm.. do you think this is also one of the publicity stunts?
ReplyDeleteAhh - yaa maybe- but it was overall a well made movie.
ReplyDeleteThe movie is a character assassination. Eduardo Saverin, who is portrayed as the guy who gets screwed out of a fortune for no fault of his was in fact the person who pitched the story for 'The Accidental Billionaires' to Ben Mezrich! In case you didn't know, 'The Social Network' is a film adaptation of that book.
ReplyDeleteSo, it's essentially Saverin's perspective of events. I'm not saying Zuckerberg isn't an asshole, but the movie's depiction of events should be taken with a grain of salt.

Of course, it goes without saying that the movie is a must watch; if only a one-time watch. Fincher's direction is excellent, script is well-written and the acting is very good. Jesse Eisenberg in particular does a brilliant job portraying Zuckerberg.
P.S. Nice try David, but Inception still ranks as the movie of the year in my eyes. :)
Love the movie and the storming idea of gripping WORLD WIDE WEB stepping into our next generation.
